Franklin Templeton appoints Aberdeen’s Gilbey

Franklin Templeton Investments has hired Martyn Gilbey as UK country head.

Gilbey joins from Aberdeen Asset Management and starts at Franklin Templeton on August 1. He takes up the role from Ian Wilkins, who left Franklin Templeton in December 2016 to pursue other opportunities.

At Aberdeen, Gilbey was head of UK distribution and led a team of 40 people supporting about £200 billion (€233 billion) of client assets.

Before Aberdeen he worked at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, where he was head of wholesale distribution.

Gilbey will lead Franklin Templeton’s local team to develop its retail and institutional businesses in the UK and offshore territories.

He will report to Vivek Kudva, managing director for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India.
