Former iShares Emea head Joe Linhares joins Russell Investments

Joe Linhares has joined Russell Investments as its regional head, leaving BlackRock after 16 years.

Based in London, Linhares becomes head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) after a variety of Emea leadership positions at BlackRock.

For example, he has been head of Emea at iShares, BlackRock’s ETF business.

He joined iShares in 2000 in the US as it began its industry advancement, and subsequently helped drive significant business growth, ultimately becoming US head of iShares distribution and then taking leadership of the iShares Emea business.

Earlier in his career, he held positions at Citibank and JP Morgan.

Linhares will report directly to Russell Investments CEO Len Brennan and serve as a member of the firm’s executive committee.

Linhares succeeds Pascal Duval, who left the firm last year and set up his own business.
