Legal & General Mastertrust has appointed David Butcher to its Mastertrust board of trustees.
Butcher is chairman of the Optimal Health Clinic Foundation, a health research charity. He was previously chief executive of Invesco Perpetual’s pensions business.
The Legal & General Mastertrust was launched in 2011. It is a multi-employer scheme managed by an independent board of trustees that is chaired by Dermot Courtier.
Emma Douglas, head of defined contributions at Legal & General Investment Management, said the Mastertrust was “growing in popularity” against a background of increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.
The Legal & General Mastertrust currently has over 80 schemes, representing over 700,000 members and has £4.5 billion (€5.1 billion) in assets under management.
