Thematic investment specialist CPR Asset Management (CPR AM) – a Paris-based subsidiary of Amundi – has set up a multi-asset fund that taps into a variety of its different investment themes, such as demographics and environment.
The Smart Trends fund will invest in CPR AM’s underlying thematic equity funds and also have exposures to bonds and cash.
Smart Trends is designed to be defensive due to the current environment of “durably low yields” and it is managed by Jean-Marie Debeaumarché and Mohamed Dohni, who are both global multi-asset portfolio managers.
Each month the thematic equity team will select the “best ideas” for the following months from the underlying themes that include ageing population, education and climate action, to then decide on the funds’ weighting.
Gilles Cutaya, deputy chief executive of the firm, said: “We are bringing together two areas of expertise that have been an integral part of CPR AM’s investment DNA: thematic equities and multi-asset. We will offer savers a solution that combines the long-term performance drivers of megatrends with a defensive profile.”
The fund is also invested to at least 50% in responsible investing vehicles.
