BNPPSS appoints head of Germany and Austria

BNP Paribas Securities Services has appointed Thorsten Gommel as head of Germany and Austria.

In his new Frankfurt-based position, which he will take up in April next year, Gommel will be responsible for leading the development of the BNPPSS franchise in Germany and Austria.

He replaces Gerald Noltsch who left BNPPSS in the summer.

Gommel joins the firm from PwC, where he has been a partner since 2010 working in the firm’s asset and wealth management sector in Germany and its consulting business in asset and wealth management across Emea.

Patrick Colle, BNPPSS general manager, said: “Thorsten’s in-depth knowledge of the capital markets and asset management in particular positions us well for further expansion in Germany and Austria, where we have ambitious growth plans.”

Gommel will report to Alessandro Gioffreda, head of Continental Europe, and locally to Lutz Diederichs, chairman of the BNP Paribas Group Management Board for Germany.
