BlackRock strategist takes new post at Axioma

Risk management firm Axioma has appointed Christopher Woida as managing director of the firm’s indexing business.

In the newly-created role Woida, who will be based at Axioma’s New York head office, will report to Axioma chief executive Sebastian Ceria.

Ceria said that Woida’s appointment would accelerate Axioma’s push into the index space.

Woida was previously an investment strategist and a founding member of the factor-based strategies group at BlackRock.

During his seven years at BlackRock, Woida helped build the company’s smart beta and factor-based platforms, contributing to the design of the company’s first fixed-income smart beta ETF and its quantitative fixed-income liquid alternatives mutual fund.

More recently, Woida was the lead investment strategist for BlackRock’s style factor hedge fund.

Woida previously worked at Deutsche Bank Securities where he specialized in fixed-income structured sales.
