BlackRock names Swiss head of iShares

US funds giant BlackRock has appointed Ed Gordon as its new head of iShares and index investing for Switzerland.

Gordon, who will take up his new role in November, joins BlackRock from UBS where he has worked as head of wealth management for Israel since 2014.

The dual Swiss-British citizen has also worked for Credit Suisse and Lombard Odier across portfolio management, wealth distribution and private equity in Zurich and New York.

BlackRock has developed into the largest foreign asset manager in Switzerland since opening is first branch in the alpine country in 1996.

The firm currently employs more than 110 people in offices in Zurich and Geneva.
