Benchmark non-compliance in pictures

Better Finance, an investor group that earlier this week said 30% of the main EU benchmarked Ucits equity funds did not comply with performance disclosure rules, has illustrated the state of non-compliance with an infographic.

The infographic highlights the main countries where the group says non-compliance is found – and the lowest, where fewer than 5% of funds did not to comply.

Better Finance considered Luxembourg to be the location of most of the funds, while France only hosted less than 1%.

The group studied over 2,000 funds and some of the 30% that were thought to be non-compliant were also funds that had been highlighted in 2015 by the European Securities and Markets Authority for potentially being benchmark huggers.

The underlying issue is of funds not showing how their performance compared to their benchmark performance.
