Axa IM to add to impact investing options

Axa Investment Managers (Axa IM) is to launch a private market strategy focused on addressing the basic needs of emerging consumers across regions such as Latin America, south Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.

The strategy will invest in private companies operating within “scalable impact themes” such as healthcare and financial inclusion.

“Within healthcare this will include the physical delivery of care through improved access to drugs and vaccines, whereas financial inclusion prioritises making financial services accessible and available to a previously under-served beneficiary group,” the fund manager said.

The strategy aims to raise between $300 million and $400 million.

Portfolio construction is based on the impact strategy that Axa IM has used over the past seven years.

This will be its fourth impact investing strategy focused on emerging and frontier consumers.
