Axa appoints head of research

Axa Investment Managers (Axa IM) has promoted Laurent Clavel to the post of head of research.

Prior to the promotion to the newly-created post, Clavel was Axa’s head of macroeconomic research.

Based in Paris, he will lead the firm’s research team which is made up of euro credit analysts and macroeconomists.

Clavel joined Axa IM in 2015 as international economist, before becoming head of macroeconomic research.

Prior to joining Axa, he worked for two years at the French Statistical Institute (INSEE) as the head of the forecasting unit.

Before that Clavel spent three years at the French Embassy in Stockholm, where he covered the Nordic economies as financial advisor to the French Treasury. He has also worked for the French Ministry for the Budget and the French Statistical Institute.

In his new role he will report to Gilles Moëc, who will become chief economist of the Axa Group in June.
