Assets in smart beta equity ETFs continue rise

Assets in European smart beta equity ETFs now total US$44.84 billion (€38.03 billion), latest industry data shows.

The figure, which is from ETFGI and released this morning, is found among broader numbers that show smart beta equity ETFs grew by 17.8% globally over July, combining flows and market movements.

Net fund inflows at the global level were $6.39 billion and total assets under management were $607.17 billion.

Deborah Fuhr, managing director and founder of ETFGI, noted that 76% of the assets in Europe were invested in 499 ETFs and other exchange-traded products that provide smart beta exposure to the US market.

Products tracking S&P Dow Jones smart beta indices gathered the largest net inflows, followed by CRSP and FTSE Russell.

Geographical figures for assets are:

· US $538.62 billion

· Europe $44.84 billion

· Canada $14.81 billion

· Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) $5.57 billion
