Alpha FMC hires former KPMG ETF head for new service

Consultant Marc Knowles has left KPMG to start an exchange-traded fund (ETF) practice at Alpha FMC, an asset and wealth management consultancy.

Knowles led a management consultant practice dedicated to ETFs at KPMG but has joined Alpha FMC as the consultancy launches an ETF and indexing practice in response to demand for consulting support from clients, the firm said.

Knowles started his career at BlackRock iShares where he was one of the first hires into the European ETF business in 2001 and over the next 13 years he held senior positions across the product, operations, capital markets and distribution functions.

He went on to lead the launch of BMO Global Asset Management’s ETF platform in Europe.

Euan Fraser, Alpha FMC UK chief executive, said: “Exchange-traded funds and index strategies are increasingly being adopted by asset managers looking to position their businesses for success in the next critical chapter for the industry. Marc has a fantastic reputation in the industry and is a great fit for Alpha. We expect to see strong demand in this space.”

Alpha FMC has been expanding since listing on the AIM market in 2017.
