Martin Currie appoints Mark Whitehead head of equity income

Edinburgh-based equity specialist, Martin Currie, has appointed Mark Whitehead as the firm’s head of equity income.

This newly created role further enhances Martin Currie’s existing income capability. Whitehead will lead Martin Currie’s seven-strong income team, which currently manages assets in excess of £850 million (€1.2 billion).

Whitehead has over 17 years’ investment management experience. He joins Martin Currie from Sarasin and Partners where he was head of their equity income team and lead portfolio manager for their global equity income range, with responsibility for assets exceeding £900 million.

“It’s great to welcome Mark to the team – his appointment represents an important step in the strengthening and development of our income business,” says John Pickard, head of investment at Martin Currie.

“Global Equity Income is one of our three key product pillars and is an asset class in which we can produce relevant outcome orientated solutions to meet our clients’ needs.”

Commenting on his appointment, Whitehead says the firm’s investment philosophy is “very much aligned” with his own.
