Legal & General IM creates head of research post

Paul SweetingLegal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has appointed Professor Paul Sweeting to the newly created role of head of research within the LGIM solutions group. Professor Sweeting joins from JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) where he was European head of the strategy group. He will report to Marcus Mollan, head of investment strategy. Prior to JPMAM, Sweeting was a professor of actuarial science at the University of Kent. His research there covered areas such as investment, risk management and longevity, with a particular focus on pensions and insurance. He continues to hold a chair at the University. At LGIM, Sweeting will be responsible for leading global research in investment strategy, outcome-oriented investing, risk management and asset-liability modeling. He will also work on longevity solutions across the Legal & General Group. Sweeting says: “It is a privilege to be joining LGIM at such a critical time for retirement provision. Low interest rates and increasing longevity continue to present challenges for individuals and their employers, whilst the regulatory landscape continues to evolve.
