UK dividends paid in the third quarter of this year rose to £22.2 billion (€27.3 billion), the highest quarterly total ever, according to Capita Registrars.
The rise equals an increase of 10.4% compared to a year ago and is “great news for shareholders”, its latest Dividend Monitor says.
Following the figures for the third quarter, Capita Registrars has upgraded the full year forecast by £300 million to £78.6 billion, up by 15.6% since least year.
“Unlike other recent quarters the total was not significantly flattened by special dividends, although compared to 2011 one-offs have still exaggerated headline growth,” the report says.
