Man Group, the London-listed alternative asset manager, has appointed Harvard Management Company’s previous chief risk officer, Neil Mason, as lead portfolio manager of its Man GLG multi-strategy portfolios.
Harvard Management Company is the investment manager of Harvard University’s endowment fund.
Mason, who will also be a senior managing director, reports to Luke Ellis, president of Man Group.
Prior to Harvard, Mason was chief investment officer at FRM Capital Advisors and is also a former chief executive of BlueCrest.
As part of the move, David Kingsley, portfolio manager on the Man multi-strategy portfolios, will report to Mason and continue in his current role. He will have input on asset allocation and strategy selection while focusing on day-to-day portfolio risk and trading activities.
Harvard Management Company appointed Jake Xia as its chief risk officer in June. Xia joined from Morgan Stanley, where he had most recently been head of global structured rates trading.
