JLT Employee Benefits appoints head of LGPS Investment Consulting

Kieran Harkin JLTEmployee benefit and pension consultant JLT Employee Benefits has promoted director Kieran Harkin to head of Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) investment consulting. Harkin takes over the role from John Finch, director, with the aim of continuing to drive the expansion of the firm’s investment consulting business in the public sector. Finch will stay with JLT and focus on the development of its fiduciary platform. With over 15 years of experience in investment consultancy, Harkin previously worked at KPMG and HSBC Actuaries and Consultants, before joining JLT as senior consultant in 2013. He has been increasingly involved in LGPS consulting and now manages key relationships with a number of the firm’s largest LGPS clients, including the Clwyd Pension Fund, Merseyside Pension Fund and Lancashire Pension Fund. JLT Employee Benefits has been active in the LGPS market since 2003 and works with 14 of the 89 UK Local Government Pension Funds. The LGPS represents just over 12.5% of the JLT investment consulting business. Commenting on his appointment, Harkin says: “The LGPS investment space is certainly going to be challenging in the years ahead, as local authorities’ ability to fund their pension schemes deteriorates and investment returns are hard to generate.” ©2015 funds europe
