Diam International, the UK arm of Tokyo’s Diam Group, has appointed Hidetoshi Yanagihara (pictured) and Eiichi Watatani as chief executive officer (CEO) and chief investment officer (CIO), respectively, after splitting the previously combined roles.
Hideto Yamamoto, who held both positions, has left the group.
The firm says the two appointments highlight Diam’s focus on its Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) client base.
Both Yanagihara and Watatani have moved to London from Diam’s offices in Japan and the US and join a team of six directors.
Yanagihara had been leader of the corporate planning group at Diam in Tokyo since 2011.
Watatani is a long-standing employee of Diam Group and was previously executive vice president of Diam USA, where he led new business initiatives and managed US credit portfolios. Prior to that he was president and CEO of Diam USA.
Martin Pattinson, head of relationship management, Emea, says Yanagihara and Watatani will fortify Diam as a specialist provider of Asian strategies to UK and Emea clients.
Diam Group has total assets under management of $141 billion (€126.8 billion) globally.
