ING Investment Management appoints international chief

Stan Beckers will become chief executive of ING Investment Management International, replacing Gilbert Van Hassel, who is leaving the company.

Beckers joins from BlackRock, where he was managing director and co-head of of BlackRock Solutions in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He will report to Lard Friese, a member of the company’s management board for Europe and Asia.

Beckers is likely to play a part in ING Group’s efforts to make its insurance and asset management operations independent as part of a reorganisation.

“As we accelerate preparations for the base case of an IPO [initial public offering] of our European insurance and investment management company, I am pleased to welcome Stan Beckers to ING,” says Jan Hommen, chief executive of ING Group.

Outgoing executive Van Hassel joined the company as chief executive of ING Investment Management Europe in 2007.
