IMA panel to review how research is paid for

The Investment Management Association (IMA) has set up an independent advisory panel in the next stage of its review of how fund managers pay for investment research.

The next stage of IMA’s research review will focus on the market for research, how research is paid for and any improvements that could be made.

The panel will act as an advisory group to the IMA with final findings and recommendations to be published in a report in October 2013. Members of the panel include Glenn Bedwin, board member, EuroIRP, Will Goodhart, chief executive, CFA UK and Professor Tim Jenkinson, professor of SaÏŠd Business.

The IMA began its review with a paper earlier this year about how asset managers pay for corporate access through dealing commissions. The review came after a Financial Services Authority thematic review last year.
