Hermes appoints stewardship expert Emma Hunt

Hermes Investment Management has appointed Emma Hunt as director, strategic client management and business development for Hermes Equity Ownership Services (EOS).

Based in London, Hunt will report to Colin Melvin, chief executive officer of Hermes EOS. She will take up her new role in September 2015.

Hunt joins from Towers Watson, where she was global co-head of sustainable & responsible investment. She advised asset owners on the design and implementation of beliefs and strategy, including manager selection, portfolio monitoring, capital allocation and stewardship.

She also supported the structure and design of in-house responsible investment capacity for large asset owners.

Hunt joined Towers Watson in 2010 from her previous role at Mercer, where she spent five years establishing Mercer’s responsible investment business.

Commenting on the appointment, she says: “Having worked with asset owners around the world for the last 18 years, I have seen the importance of good stewardship rise up their agenda. We are now at a point where good stewardship is critical to an investment institution’s identity.”

Hermes EOS currently advises on £115.7 billion (€158.3 billion) on behalf of its clients.
