Hermes appoints Nell as fund director to real estate team

Hermes Investment Management has appointed Philip Nell as a fund director in Hermes Real Estate. He will join the firm in this new role on July 20, 2015.

Based in London, Nell will report directly to Chris Taylor, chief executive, Hermes Real Estate. He joins Hermes from Aviva Investors, where he held a number of senior roles, most recently head of European retail funds.

At Hermes, Nell will have responsibility alongside Chris Taylor for building up strategic partnerships and joint ventures for Hermes Real Estate, which has over £6 billion (€8.3 billion) of real estate assets under management.

As part of this he will be fund manager of the UK Private Rental Sector fund, which Hermes developed in partnership with Countrywide, the UK’s largest lettings and property management company. The fund, aimed at institutional investors, will support the building of new homes in places in areas of need.
