Signet Capital Management Ltd Signets consistent investment performance, which is based on a highly disciplined investment and risk management process, impressed the judges this year. Elsewhere in the group, assets under management remained constant at $300m, notwithstanding the distribution of $130m to investors in Signets Emerging European Debt Fund during the period September 2005 to March 2006. Man Investments is one of the global leaders in the alternative investment industry, with more than $54bn (
ââ??¬42.1bn) in assets under management. Man Investments has devoted considerable resources to developing its product management systems. The company has brought a host of products to the market, including a collateralised fund obligation on a diversified fund of hedge funds portfolio, an Asian multi-strategy fund of hedge funds, a fund of hedge funds focusing on activist investors, new funds in the energy sector and a new alternatives product capturing opportunities in emerging hedge fund strategies. Sinopia Asset Management
Sinopia's mantra for contributing positively to the hedge fund industry, even in difficult times, is: transparency and constant research. All fund managers within the alternative strategies team have either worked in research or have a solid statistical background, and are thus well able to interpret the allocation proposed by the research tools in the context of financial markets. This close relationship between asset managers and researchers, says Sinopia, leads to constant improvement in the strategies and continuous product innovation. Henderson Global Investors
Henderson is best known as a traditional asset manager, but its recent commitment to the hedge fund space, together with its achievement in growing hedge fund assets under management by 50% so far in 2006, made it a worthy contender this year. With a stable containing 14 single and multi strategy hedge funds, and more in the pipeline, Henderson uses its traditional, reliable asset management foundations to attract hedge fund investors who desire innovative products. The judges were also impressed by its good performance in the funds of hedge funds space, as well as its strong European footprint.
