Global asset management group, Gottex Fund Management, has appointed Laurent Chevallier as a senior member of its portfolio management team, based at Gottex’s Swiss subsidiary, Gottex Asset Management (Suisse).
Chevallier joins Gottex with more than sixteen years of experience in the analysis and management of alternative investment strategies.
He started trading S&P 500 futures in 1998 for a $1 billion (€887 million) hedge fund where he then became director of hedge fund research and head of asset allocation. Chevallier later co-founded Quest Partners in New York, where he was managing partner and portfolio manager of an emerging managers fund.
He then served as co-chief investment officer at Bucephale Investment Management and as head of hedge fund investments and manager selection at Unigestion.
Since 2010, Laurent has been managing macro hedge fund strategies, with a large alternative beta component. For the past four years, Laurent was portfolio manager of the Vasken macro fund, a fund with a strong tail risk protection bias, trading systematic macro themes, trends, carry trades – in forex, yield curves and commodities – and index spreads.
Arpad Busson, executive chairman of Gottex, says: “As Gottex pursues its strategic initiative in the area of Alternative Risk Premia, Laurent’s hands-on experience managing macro hedge fund programs, alternative beta strategies and factor-based investment approaches will represent a major asset and significantly strengthen our capabilities.”
Gottex has $8.5 billion in assets under management.
