Fund Launch of the Year

   European Fund Launch
of the Year

Shortlisted also in the Specialist Investment Firm category, Reech CBRE Alternative Real Estate wins the fund launch award on the strength of its original offering. Typically in this category, judges like to wait for a while after a fund’s launch, for fear of choosing a clever-sounding gimmick that subsequently sinks without trace. The Iceberg fund was launched in May 2007 as Europe’s first commercial property/real estate hedge fund. As of August 2008 the fund had delivered 33.07% net of fees and expenses. The firm is a joint venture between Reech AiM, a derivatives and risk management house, and CB Richard Ellis, a leading real estate professional services company. “Chris Reech really understands derivatives,” said one judge. “The fund launch was well timed,” noted another.
