ETP market reaches milestone in assets

The size of the global exchange-traded products (ETP) industry has exceeded the “milestone figure” of $2 trillion (€1.5 trillion), according to BlackRock.

BlackRock, which owns the iShares exchange-traded fund (ETF) business, said momentum from last year had carried over into January with the $2 trillion hit on 18 January.

2012 was a record-breaking year for flows. ETPs attracted $262.7 billion in assets globally and growing by 27% compared with the end of 2011.
