The list of investment managers offering multi-asset or multi-strategy fixed income funds has grown with the addition of America’s Eaton Vance Management launching an Irish Ucits multi-sector income fund.
The Eaton Vance (Ireland) Ucits Multi-Sector Income Fund invests across global income securities, both fixed and floating rate, including corporate bonds, government securities, mortgage related and other asset-backed securities, as well as convertible securities.
Eaton Vance Management (International), which manages the fund, places the launch in the context of more volatility in fixed income markets due to interest rate uncertainty.
Kathleen Gaffney, co-director, diversified fixed income and lead portfolio manager, says: “The uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate policy has undoubtedly created a more volatile fixed-income market, which is expected to result in increasing price gaps and the creation of value in the credit markets.”
She says the fund looks to exploit these gaps by using a credit focused multi-sector approach to investing, which she believes is the best way to find opportunities in income markets.
