Nicolas Laporte, formerly an alternative investments manager at the British Airways Pension Fund, has joined Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management’s hedge funds advisory business.
Deutsche AWM has also hired Mihir Meswani, formerly of Mount Yale Capital Group, to the same department.
Both will work as portfolio managers, advising clients on custom portfolios and liquid alternatives, such as managed accounts.
Laporte, who will be based in London, was previously a senior portfolio manager of alternative investments at the British Airways fund. He has also held positions at Novartis’ pension fund, where he managed alternative investments, emerging markets and commodities.
New York-based Meswani joins Deutsche AWM from his position as a consultant at Mount Yale Capital Group, a financial adviser, and has also worked as chief investment strategist at Sandalwood Securities, where he was a member of the investment committee with direct responsibility for Sandalwood’s fund of hedge funds and alternative mutual fund portfolios.
“Hedge fund advisory is a key part of our growth strategy,” says Martin Fothergill, global head of hedge funds for Deutsche AWM.
Deutsche AWM had $1.27 trillion (€1.08 trillion) of assets under management at September 2014, and recorded strong results in the third quarter of the year.
