Chief Investement Officer of the year

of the year
Peter Knez
Barclays Global Investors Peter Knez is chief investment officer global fixed income at Barclays Global Investors. He took up this position nearly two years ago, in which time he has transformed the business, adapting BGI's quantitative research approach to the opposite end of the investment spectrum and achieving pure alpha generation through long/short derivative-based strategies. The judges said: ââ?¬Å?He was able to optimise new technologies, quantitative research and new instruments in order to generate alpha in the fixed income world, which is a very difficult task.ââ?¬Â This involved the complete restructuring of BGI's fixed income business, based on his strategic vision of fixed income investing. This vision incorporated the changing landscape of client demand, an analysis of the competition and the increasing number of instruments into BGI's investment philosophy with the aim of providing institutional clients with better returns for their money. {playerflv}/images/stories/awards_vids/clip03.flv|320|256|#ffffff|true|left{/playerflv}Shortlisted: Richard Lacaille, State Street Global Advisors
