BNP Paribas Investment Partners (BNPP IP) has appointed four senior global equity managers from investment firm, NewSmith, to build a new institutional global equity team.
The four new hires are Simon Roberts, Jonathan Barnett, James Mann and Stewart Lambert. They will be led by Roberts and based in London.
The team will report to Guy Davies, director – equities, who reports to David Kiddie, global chief executive officer of BNPP IP’s institutional business. Kiddie says that global equity expertise is a clear priority for BNPP IP, in the current market environment.
The four managers have experience in equity research from both the buy and sell sides and have managed both long-only and long-short equity strategies.
Roberts has previously held other senior positions at Fidelity Lazard Asset Management and BlueCrest Capital, while Barnett has held senior roles at Moore Capital, Caxton Associates and Sloane Robinson.
Mann has covered equity sales at James Capel and Smith New Court/Merrill Lynch, while Lambert has held positions at firms such as Balyasny Asset management and Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
As well as the team’s shared experience at NewSmith, Roberts, Mann and Lambert also previously worked together at BlueCrest Capital.
BNPP IP has €514 billion in assets under management and advisory, as at December 31 2014.
