BlackRock unveils North American trust

BlackRock Investment Management has launched a North American-focused equity income investment trust.

The asset manager aims to raise in excess of £100 million (€126.4 million) for the BlackRock North American Income Trust, which will be listed on the London Stock Exchange.

BlackRock said it would make applications for admission to the premium segment of the official list and to trading on the exchange’s main market segment for listed securities.

The trust’s managers, Bob Shearer and Kathleen Anderson, seek high quality, predominantly US large cap quoted companies that show an ability to grow dividends. They will employ an active options overlay strategy using predominantly covered call options.
