Axa Investment Managers (Axa IM) has hired Rob Barrett as head of institutional sales in the UK. He will work closely with and report to Irshaad Ahmad, Head of Axa IM UK, with a focus on furthering the growth of the institutional business in the UK.
Barrett will oversee the direct sales team and be responsible for identifying and developing opportunities with institutional investors including corporates, pension schemes and the local authority market.
He joins from Invesco Perpetual where he spent the past three years in the UK & Ireland institutional sales team. Other previous roles include head of UK institutional business at Swisscanto and head of UK sales at HSBC Global Asset Management.
Barrett has also worked for Axa IM in the past, holding the role of head of European marketing for Northern Europe for Axa Rosenberg between 2004 and 2008. In this position he was responsible for UK and Irish sales, creating direct sales and brand building within target markets.
Commenting on the appointment, Ahmad says Barrett will be integral in developing the firm’s market share in the UK institutional market, where Axa IM has seen positive momentum with pension schemes in particular.
”Our focus remains on solutions which focus on de-risking and diversification, more specifically liability driven investing, buy and maintain credit, our diversified growth and multi-asset solutions as well as smart beta,” he adds.
