Malaysia-based asset manager, Affin Hwang Asset Management Berhad (Affin Hwang AM), has launched its first Luxembourg registered Ucits products.
Affin Hwang AM, which manages over €7 billion of assets in Asian equity and fixed income products, has launched the Affin Hwang Capital Asian Series, comprised of the Select Asia Opportunity Fund and the Select Asia Quantum Fund.
The two Asian equity focused funds will mirror the investment strategies of equivalent existing domestic funds.
Esther Thye, chief strategy officer of Affin Hwang AM, says the launch signifies a growth strategy for the firm and that it is the first Malaysian asset manager to launch a Luxembourg registered Ucits fund.
Eng Peng Gan, portfolio manager for the two funds, says the investment strategy is largely a total-return approach.
“We take educated risks with big positions in quality and well-managed companies, and many of our investment ideas may not be necessarily from the index universe.”
The firm, which is the asset management arm of capital markets group, Affin Hwang Capital, has also announced the appointment of BNP Paribas Securities Services as administrator, registrar, transfer agent and custodian for the funds.
